At the Brink of War: A Better Future
Started by FrostFallenDream

Late into the night, sounds of angered scratching fills the air of the Scholar's Slumber. At one of the desks at the very top of the library, June mumbles to herself, hurrying to make enough letters to send out through the various lands of Templehelm. There wasn't any time to waste if she wanted to ensure she was ready for the inevitable conflict ahead.

----

To my friends and allies of Dawn's Reverie:

I am unaware if the drivel of Grastagg's Queen has reached you, but in the chance it hasnt, I write to inform you that all attempts at peace have failed. The Emeraldite response has been made clear. Rather then take responsibility for their crimes, they seek only to push Dawn's Reverie to it's breaking point. They fling accusations at both myself and my people that lead to our near genocide in the years following the world's shattering. They show no remorse for their actions, past or present, and as such, I feel there is no other way to answer then by moving forward with what we have discussed over the past weeks. Please, I ask that we arrange a time to speak before war is to break, to ensure we're on the same page as we fight for Templehelm's future. With your support, I truly believe we can carve ourselves a better world then the one of decay the Emeraldite Nobles are insistent must remain with their continued rule.

Warm Regards, June Nieroi,  Lady of Dawn's Reverie

Reading the messages over, June lets out a disappointed sigh, slipping each one into an envelop and sending them off toward their intended destinations. She had known the Emeraldites wouldnt pull their punches, but something about seeing their accusations...it took her back to a time much too recent for her liking. The prejudice she and her fellow Ephalens faced..... a shiver ran down her spine at the thought. She couldnt allow it to flourish again, not for as long as she continued to exist. The fight against Jocelyn would simply be the next step on the path to the perfect world she so dreamed of.

(If June has talked with your character over the past weeks about the Emeraldite situation, you can guarantee she has sent you the letter above ^-^ .)

Pycena find the mail in her mailbox and reads it thoroughly. The information war has flared up, and while the whole ordeal was confusing, she does have an idea what's going on. Her doubts of the emeraldites stemmed from them essentially admitting to casting a spell capable of injuring a person. Combined that with the fickle and evasive nature of magic itself, she highly suspects that the emeraldites are not telling the full story. With this in mind, she writes a letter to Lady June.

To the Lady of Dawn's Reverie, June Nieroy.
From Pycena Do O Grant, Magister of MyleHatsu.

I've been following the events closely and I will be able to speak at ____. I will still attempt to pursue a peaceful solution, or at least minimize the casualties in the war, as part of your coalition. I will insist however, that for the safety of my people all major decisions be done collectively, with each member being able to cast the vote towards the final outcome. However, i cannot ignore the smoking gun that the emeraldites left on the negotiation table. They've admitted to the use of a hostile "Truth forcing" spell, if such a thing is even possible. Regardless whether this effect was real, the use of dark magic that's able to injure a person, or worse, delve into their very soul is unprecedented. I wish you and your people safety in these troubling times and you can expect support from me and my forces.

Pycena seals the letter and sends it to June's mailbox. She remembers the tales of her past. Empires meddling with astral magic, summoning forces from realms beyond. Causing corruption and marking the very souls of those that fought them to die gruesomely by what only could be described as eldritch creatures.
