The wooden figure knelt before the tree of bone and flesh, pouring blood out upon the base.
The blood seems pool into one spot, then drain rapidly into the ground.
From the location where the blood had pooled, a large hercules beetle burrowed out from the ground climbing upon a gnarled root.
The beetle declared itself an emissary of the Caretaker, and had the presence to match.
Its carapace appeared harder than any steel, and shone with a luster not natural to the world, tinged slightly red. It reeked of blood, and gave off a pressure that seemed to foretell your death should you step out of line.
It asked what the wooden figure sought, and heard the request. The request was a simple one, but carried a promise behind it, one that it would ensure the figure would regret if broken.
The figure sought to hold feasts in the name of the deity. With a promise to spread their doctrine.
The emissary was skeptical at first, wondering how a mere dinner hosted by a sapling yet to come into their own could spread the doctrine of the divine.
The wooden figured elaborated on their plan, however. They reasoned that the people of the realm are quite forgetful, and if something is not repeated, will fade from mind. To prevent this, a feast will be held to remind people to think about their own growth, and be inspired by the growth of others.
The emissary relayed this message to the divine, and they agreed to watch over the feast and allow it to be held in their name.
The feast was dubbed the Verdant Supper, and its halls welcome anyone willing to grow.
